The Protector Foundation
protecting those who can't protect themselves

Current Research Project

We are undertaking a survey of the literature on abuse, treatment, neglect, or exploitation of those unable to care for themselves for any reason, such as age, minority, and physical or mental disability. This will include abuse by all types of perpetrators, including family, trustees, guardians, and those holding powers of attorney. It will include those receiving social security benefits. We will compile recommendations which have been made to reduce or eliminate abuse.

Model Documents

We are undertaking to develop draft model legal documents for circulation and comment. Under these documents, a person who may lose the ability to handle affairs by reason of stroke or any other disability, will be able to establish a protector to detect and avoid abuses, and outline best practices for such a protector.
